OGR2Layers is a free and easy to use python plugin for Quantum GIS open source software. Only a few clicks let you export your vectorial GIS data layer to a OpenLayers HTML map, that you can easily include in your website !

About OGR2Layers PLugin

OGR2Layers was developed from scratch, based on the idea that one could easily build a bridge between local GIS resources and the global network, making the open source web maps development become easier. Only a few clicks enable the user to export his GIS vectorial data to an OpenLayers HTML map, which he can simply upload onto the Internet.

OGR2Layers was developed in python language over the QGIS C++ API and is still in early stage of development. The plugin tends to become cross-platform and frendly-user (See install steps and user guide). Many future improvments have to be done, please see the ToDo List to learn more.

Although the plugin is easy to use, there's still a important gap between desktop GIS and web GIS capabilities, so the user must be very careful of OGR layer's size. The heavier the OGR layers loaded in QGIS are, the slower the Internet OpenLayers Map will be !
